Every so often I get asked to paint or sketch a portrait, and in most cases fish or fishing is the main theme. This time I faced a unique and sentimental request of a man and his dog. Even though it was one of the smaller paintings that I have done, I thoroughly enjoyed portraying this special bond.
The challenge in this piece was accurately capturing the characters on a small scale so that they are instantly recognizable. Small variations in details can easily distract from this, so careful observation was needed.
The final product, a moment captured in time of man and his best friend.
